Apparently, as I understand it, Giant Eagle will be adding that much needed lane.
BUT...This is something that should have been done by the city - not a cost to a private business. This widening has been needed since they widened Pearl - the city just planned poorly and now someone else has to pick up the cost. Doesn't anyone else wonder if the same would be done by the city for ALL those doing business here?

So sorry for your loss.
At least your experience with this family was a positive one.
From what I witnessed, they seemed very unprofessional. Not knowing who they were, I commented how the people standing "over there" seemed to be acting as though they were at a party rather than visiting a loved one. It was then that I learned "those people" were actually the owners, having a good time chatting together while visitation was going on. Several days later I went to the funeral home on 303 and had a completely different experience - they were VERY professional and seemed caring to all who attended.
It was because of those 2 extremes that I made it clear that in no way did I want Jardines to be used when I die. And, I think people need to research complaints to the "boards" that oversee funeral homes - as some clearly do not follow procedures. Such as, they are suppose to provide price lists and are to be prevented from taking advantage of those who just recently suffered a loss.
I know this is a business to owners, but some owners seem to care while others only want to make a buck. -

Not meant to be funny.
Meant to show my disdain for the city "rubber stamping" plans submitted to build that cooker there. And my disdain for the owners lack of concern for their neighbors and the the community's wishes of where this should have gone. You see...
It has nothing to do with individuals personally involved - I am sorry for what your family is going through.
If my comments DO cause others to not use Jardines because of showing their complete disregard for the community that has supported them, then more the better. People need to know - let them decide for themselves, as I have. No family member of mine will ever use them. -

Exactly!
Good or not - should be replaced...but ONCE admired and respected...but no longer. Once they participated in the March 3 city square demo or any private home or business picketing, they showed their character. It doesn't matter if their leader said do this or that - these are suppose to be thinking adults who should have taken a stand if they believed differently. So, these folks are nothing more to me than someone who just wants a paycheck and landed a job because they managed to luck into a job here after skating through college by getting a degree from the college of education. Therefore - no special group of people. Just a mob with their hands deep in the taxpayers pockets, yelling for more.

By The Way...
Is the city checking to see that they are frying only the bodies they said they were going to?
Or are they cooking more than they told us they would? And, how much is Jardines actually doing for other funeral homes?
Hmmmm...inquiring minds want to know!

For the SEA - good idea!
One of the reasons for NOT building the new middle school there was because of the possible danger to students of being near Jardines now that they have that body burner throwing toxins into the air and the unknown dangerous future effects on people being exposed to what that funeral home is putting in the air.
So, why are they even considering using that property in the future?Jardines has made that 17 acres (?) almost worthless - parents will not want their kids using that as school property and no one will want to buy that land. So, the taxpayers are stuck with a huge loss - thanks to letting that body burner being built there. It should have gone in an industrial area, away from school property and anywhere zoned residential.
I wonder where this would have been allowed to be built if it had been an outside company wanting to put a body fryer here - someone with no city connections. Would it have gone through council and planning as quickly, with the mayor's approval? Something tells me, NO.

Hey, no brain...
"respect" teachers?
So, they are on a pedestal?
Yeah, right!
They don't deserve more respect than any other average person. Teachers are mere mortals, with a mere education degree from college, who haven't done anything spectacular to be so looked up to. (And I'm not talking about the amount of education - I'm talking about the difficulty of attaining THAT degree to others)Your kind of thinking is what got our city in the mess it did with the thugs that went on strike here - they got this god-like complex.

ReplyI'm loving reading all of these comments today.
Sort of takes the sting out of having to explain our city to outsiders these past few weeks.
I've been trying to put a good spin on the strike.
Outsiders are well aware that the teachers are not wanted or respected and no one wants to have their kids exposed to any of them. Which is not good for people thinking about moving here. So, the only spin I can give is that IN SPITE of these teachers, the kids, parents and people are fantastic and united in our feelings about wanting to weed out the bad. And reassure others that we are on the right track with the city's awareness, and the current admin and BOE.And, with the kids "strike" today - it helps with that spin.
So, thank you kids!!! -

Yes!
Everyone should hop on over to read that email..
I saw it on their FB page.
Looks like lots of disagreement, threats, power struggle and scandal going on behind the scenes of the SEA - and for more than just 2 months. Almost makes you feel sorry for some of the teachers - but then again...I wish they had spoke up for the good of the kids and stood up against Tracy.

This sickens me that these teachers continue with their behavior and greed.
And, it sickens me that the admin and/or BOE is going along with this.
What about what is right and also best for the kids? The teachers never once cared about them during the strike and, from what I have been reading - the teachers are really sticking it to the kids, through grades and now this. Not a very professional bunch. They have done nothing to show that they deserve any respect that an average person deserves - just the opposite. But, I guess as long as they get a paycheck, they just don't care about anyone else or their character!
