On the article Falls Man Pronounced Dead After Suspected Heroin Overdose

Wow. It's almost like you're making excuses for it.
The best solution is to not do things you've been warned will kill you and to not listen to people who blame society for someone's overdose of heroin.
If we have the solution of not doing heroin in the first place, no empathy will be needed. Heroin users lose my empathy when they stick themselves and inject the drug.
Too harsh? Too bad.
Don't do what you've been told not to do. It's simple.

o, it's rats looking for a lifeboat on a sinking ship.
Maybe Portage Crossing will do some good after all and get the Falls a brand new government.

So Robart waits until the chosen person becomes council president and retires.
It's not really that hard to figure out.
You don't think these people are all in bed with each other, scheming and planning how to skirt the way it's supposed to be done in lieu of the way they want it to happen?

People *choose* to drive through there after being given sufficient information that it's being done--early enough that they could not go through it if they didn't want to.
How is that a violation of the 4th Amendment?

Actually, I'll make a prediction here:
When Robart finally decides to stop his reign of destruction and leave, he'll resign and hand off his office to whoever the 3rd Reich decides they want to be the next elected mayor. It might be as early as his swearing-in date. Swear in, resign, install unelected Mini-Me. Maybe cite "health issues" or some other BS story so they don't think it will look a bit fishy. Mini-me does the job until the election.
This is all assuming we don't toss Robart out on his ear like we should in the next election.

Interesting news about Barnhart. I just (for some odd reason) looked at the city's web site just the other day and saw Barnhart is doing nothing but collecting a check.
That's politics around here, though. Going by what you guys are saying on here...one hands off a seat that's appointed to someone pre-approved prior to the election so they can say "RE-elect" so-and-so instead of just "Elect" so-and-so, as though they've actually been elected before. Incumbents win over challengers more than the other way around.
And choosing your name wisely (or changing as necessary), while not exactly a moral choice, is the way politics are played around here--on the edge of dirty, but no so close that you can't clean yourself up afterward.

You want to see bad? Look at Barnhart.
His name is on one committee. He's nowhere to be found.

Wasn't me, but I think it would have been smart for a lot more people--especially those on council--to have shouted "NO."
This project has changed too much from the beginning. It went from delusions of being all sorts of upscale to fashion nails and a dying movie industry--all while giving away millions of dollars.
I wish it was me who shouted "NO," but it wasn't.

Will it?
With as much as they've screwed around with Portage Crossing, they first have to build the new Giant Eagle, then the existing Giant Eagle has to move, then there will be more screwing around with the exact same things Portage Crossing had (zoning, rezoning, free stuff given to Menards on the taxpayer's dime, announcements on announcements about announcements that will be announced after another announcement, etc.).
If Menards actually decides to stick around and not go elsewhere, it will be 2018-2020 before they actually open.
