A boil alert was issued Thursday for Meriline Street from Grant Avenue to Chestnut Boulevard. The alert was issued after water dropped below pressure during pipe repairs, said Cuyahoga Falls Water Utilities Superintendent John Christopher. In accordance with EPA regulations, residents in the affected area are asked to boil their water for at least three minutes, said Christopher. The boil alert will be lifted Saturday, May 18 at 1 p.m.

A boil alert has been issued for both sides of Broad Boulevard -- between 10th Street and 11th Street -- until Sunday, Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. The alert resulted after water dropped below pressure during a water main repair Friday. In accordance with EPA regulations, the City of Cuyahoga Falls asks affected residents to boil their water for at least two minutes.

Following a valve replacement, water dropped below pressure on Marcia Boulevard, according to Cuyahoga Falls Water Superintendent John Christopher. As a safeguard, in accordance with EPA regulations, a boil alert has been issued from the 2800 block of Marcia Boulvard to Highpoint Road. Christopher advises affected residents should boil their water for at least two minutes. The alert will be lifted at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The city is no stranger to water main breaks. On Monday, Cuyahoga Falls City Council approved the first of two measures to compensate the Karvo Paving Company for re-asphalting a section of Graham Road that had cracked and buckled last month. The cause? A pair of 50-year-old water mains ruptured on Sept. 7, crippling Graham from Prange Drive to the Cardinal Retirement Village. The cost? $100,000 to be paid for by the city’s miscellaneous waterline repair fund. The tab will deplete two-thirds of the fund, leaving $50,000 through December for major repairs, said John Christopher, superintendent of the city’s water utility. Water main rupture causes water pressure to drop; boil water for 2 minutes.
The water main rupture that closed Graham Road between Prange Drive and Lillis Drive has triggered a boil alert for residents affected by the water disruption. The Cuyahoga Falls Water Utility Department issued the following statement: "On Saturday, September 8, 2012 following a water main repair, the water dropped below pressure. Therefore, as a safeguard in accordance to EPA regulations, a boil alert has been issued for Graham Road only, between Prange Drive and State Road until Monday, September 10, 2012 at 12 noon. To ensure safety, please boil your water for a minimum of two minutes."
