Updated Feb. 24, 11:06 a.m. A Cuyahoga Falls resident called police after finding her roommate unresponsive in their 24th Street residence on Feb. 17. According to the Cuyahoga Falls police report, the 51-year-old woman was taken to Akron City Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m. Sunday. Police suspect the woman died of a drug overdose. The Cuyahoga Falls Police Narcotics Unit is waiting on the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the official cause of death.

Firefighters use Jaws of Life to free driver involved in major accident on Friday.
Stow firefighters and paramedics wasted no time on Friday when rescuing a man who was pinned inside his car after a major accident on State Route 8 Northbound. Details of the crash remain unclear, but according to Stow Fire Capt. Mark Stone, the man's car was wedged beneath a semi near the Graham Road exit. Firefighters worked quickly, using the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic cutting tools to free him. "It took our guys about 25 minutes to extricate him from the car and get him off to the hospital," said Stone. "That's fast when you consider the weather, road conditions and traffic jam they were dealing with." On Dec. 28, a 22-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was struck by a car on Howe Avenue and was taken to Akron City Hospital, according to Falls police.
Updated Jan. 2, 11:55 p.m. On Dec. 28 at 6:54 p.m., Cuyahoga Falls police and EMS responded to an accident on Howe Avenue near Ritchie Street. It appears a 22-year-old man was hit by a car while crossing Howe Avenue outside of a crosswalk. Paramedics transported the Falls man to Akron City Hospital where he was listed in serious, but stable, condition. The incident is under investigation by police, according to the department's Facebook page.

Todd Vaughn, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, is still being treated for serious injuries at Akron City Hospital after falling from a State Route 8 overpass last weekend. Since he’s not yet healthy enough to be questioned by Cuyahoga Falls police, Lt. Steve Guldeman said little is known about the incident. “There’s nothing there to suggest anything,” said Guldeman. “We have no witnesses, we have no skid marks, we have nothing to say that he jumped out of the way of a car.” It may have been an attempted suicide, but that can't be confirmed until detectives speak to him, presumably by later next week, he added. Police got a call about a man walking along State Route 8 at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday morning. Before officers could reach him, the 42-year-old man reportedly fell from the highway overpass and landed on Howe Avenue. He was treated by Cuyahoga Falls EMS and taken to Akron City Hospital for "serious injuries," according to a Cuyahoga Falls police report. The incident is under investigation.
