Cuyahoga Falls Police responded to two incidents over the weekend involving “highly intoxicated” people found in unusual places. In the first incident, police received a call at 4:02 a.m. Friday from a night clerk at the Sheraton Suites about a male/female fight in one of the guest rooms. Officers reported that they found an Akron woman, 20, and her boyfriend, a 22-year-old Uniontown man, “on the rocks below the balcony of their room, both intoxicated.” Police said the woman “alleged that (her boyfriend) tried to push her over the balcony and held her on the rocks.” The boyfriend said the woman “climbed over the balcony and he was trying to keep her from leaving.” The woman was charged with underage consumption and disorderly conduct, both…

Mayor Don Robart presented the city's annual progress report to a capacity crowd on Wednesday at the Sheraton Suites.
Conservative spending, drastic reductions in crime and the successful negotiation of the Portage Crossing development all contributed to a relatively successful year in 2011 for Cuyahoga Falls. Mayor Don Robart, who presented his State of the City address on Wednesday at the Sheraton, was well received by a capacity crowd of city officials, business leaders and Chamber of Commerce members. "Despite living in an economy that is the worst that most of us have seen in our lifetimes, the state of our city is very strong and its future is very bright," said Robart in his opening remarks. Cuyahoga Falls Police responded to the Sheraton Suites at 8:44 p.m. Dec. 20 after receiving a call about “a female that had expired by an unknown means.” Pronounced dead at the scene was Jamie L. Litchfield, 32, of 1171 W. Main St. in Kent. Gary Guenther, chief investigator for the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, said an autopsy has been performed but a ruling on the death is pending toxicology results. There were no signs of trauma or foul play, he noted. Police reported that a representative from the medical examiner’s office took charge of the scene. Medics from the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department also were at the hotel and called a doctor at Akron City Hospital to get a pronouncement of death at 8:58 p.m. Police said Litchfield…

More than 800 area residents took time out of their busy holiday schedules Thursday to attend the largest blood drive held in Summit County. The event was hosted by the City of Cuyahoga Falls and Sheraton Suites at the Front Street hotel. Katy Berger, communications associate for the Northern Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross, said the third annual event was fun, with holiday music playing and raffle prizes being awarded every 15 minutes. Every donor recieved a goody bag that included a pixie poinsettia from The Greenhouse Florist in Hudson and coupons to local businesses and restaurants.
