Driver Found With Heroin, Cocaine, Syringes; Thief Goes on Spending Spree: Crime Blotter

Smash and grab On May 6 at 8:44 a.m., the owner of Studio Eleven -- located at 1714 Portage Trail -- contacted police after someone smashed through her door and entered the business while it was closed.  The thief reportedly stole cash from a register and fled, according to a Cuyahoga Falls police report.  Total loss and damage: $1,000.  Busted Robert L. Bauer, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, was hit with a pair of felonies on May 4 after police found heroin, cocaine, a burnt spoon and syringes in his car during a routine traffic stop, according to a police report.  Bauer was charged with drug possession, a fifth-degree felony; drunken driving, a first-degree misdemeanor; and drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor. Falls Man Pronounced Dead After Suspected Heroin Overdose

The following was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suspected overdose A Studio City resident called 911 May 3 at 1:58 a.m. after finding Shane Stott, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, unconscious in her apartment.  Stott was rushed to Summa Western Reserve Hospital and pronounced dead at 2:32 a.m., according to a police report. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office is still waiting on the toxicology report to determine the official cause of death. Cuyahoga Falls Police Lt. Steve Guldeman said an initial investigation has led detectives to suspect Stott died from a heroin overdose.  Barnstorming On May 1, a West Bath Road resident contacted Cuyahoga Falls police after someone broke into his barn and stole a pair of air compressors. Man Charged After Shooting Gun Through Neighbor's Home: Crime Blotter

Amateur film-makers busted Three teenagers were caught filming snowboarding jumps on the bathroom shelter at Valley Vista Park, 2790 Valley Road, about 1:08 a.m. March 26. The teens were charged with criminal mischief, according to a Cuyahoga Falls police report. Man charged after shooting gun through woman's home A Tallmadge man was arrested for discharging a firearm within city limits after a woman in the 1200 block of Buckingham Gate found a fired bullet in her apartment. Wedding ring goes missing in Red Lobster An Akron man told Cuyahoga Falls police he lost his wedding ring inside Red Lobster, 1090 Graham Road, the afternoon of March 23. Woman Uses Counterfeit Bill to Post Boyfriend's Bail: Crime Blotter

Woman uses counterfeit bill to post boyfriend's bail A woman wanted to post bail for her boyfriend March 15 but had a little hurdle to jump when one of her bills turned out to be counterfeit. The woman posted a $1,200 bond for her boyfriend's two Stow Municipal Court cases from 2011 with the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. The woman included one counterfeit $10 bill with her combination of $100, $50, $20 and $10 bills. Stow Municipal Clerk of Courts Diane Colavecchio did not wish to pursue prosecution. Colavecchio stated the $1,200 bond was modified by $10 to accommodate the counterfeit bill, according to the police report. Disgruntled Dad Screams Expletives Inside Elementary School: Crime Blotter

Police responded to Lincoln Elementary School March 15 to find a man who reportedly was shouting expletives with parents and children in earshot. Cuyahoga Falls police got the call about the man about 7:30 p.m. that day, but by the time they arrived, the man was nowhere to be found. The man had been threatening to beat up his ex-wife's current husband. According to the police report, officials planned to serve the man a court summons. Nurse Solicited For Sex While Giving Hospice Care: Crime Blotter

A State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) told Cuyahoga Falls police she was solicited for sex while giving hospice care to a person living in the 2800 block of Cedar Hill Road. The incidents occurred between Sept. 1, 2012, and March 18. The Crossroads Hospice worker reported that a man offered her money in return for sexual intercourse when she was providing hospice care to a patient at the patient's residence. She told police she was unsure whether she'd like to prosecute. Soliciting is a third-degree misdemeanor, according to the Cuyahoga Falls police report. Thieves Plunder Portage Crossing: Crime Blotter

Thieves hit up Portage Crossing recently and stole nearly $20,000 in construction supplies. A Thompson Electric employee told Cuyahoga Falls police someone stole five bundles of galvanized conduit (in 3-inch diameter) and eight sets of anchor bolts from the construction site near Portage Trail and State Road. Total estimated loss is $19,520. The items were stolen sometime between March 11 and March 18. Car break-ins around the Falls

They've been working at that site off and on since August of last year (2012). If you haven't noticed, there are signs all over the place, because part of the work was to widen the roads in the area. The mayor is doing a great job. It's just a sign of the times -- everyone is feeling the "crunch" and I'm sure it affects construction companies as well.   more ›

Men Make Off With $225 in Cigarettes From Walgreens While Clerk's Back is Turned

Police said the men ordered the large amount of cigarettes and when the clerk bent down to retrieve more, the two grabbed what was on the counter and ran

While a clerk's back was turned, two men were able to make it out of Walgreens Wednesday night with about $225 in Newport 100s. If that sounds like a lot of cigarettes, it is. That's 40 boxes, according to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. Police said the men ordered the large amount of cigarettes and when the clerk bent down to retrieve more, the two grabbed what was on the counter and ran. The Walgreens employee described the suspects as two black men in their late 30s dressed in all black. They left the store at 2645 State Road in a gray four-door vehicle of an unknown make about 11:45 p.m. that night. Turkeys thrown into resident's car A resident in the 1700 block of 11th Street told police someone threw two frozen turkeys through the back window of her car, breaking the window, sometime on March 8. Damage is estimated at $200. Identity theft thwarted An Akron man told police someone nearly gained access to his bank account by providing bank employees at Valley Savings Bank, 140 Portage Trail, with the victim's date of birth and social security number. The suspect had called the bank trying to change the online password on March 11 or 12.
