Want to Track Santa? There's an App for That

NORAD website and smartphone apps let you follow St. Nick's every move.

No need to check out Cuyahoga Falls' skies on Christmas Eve to see if Santa Claus is really coming to town. You can track his flight path the high-tech way. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is charged with keeping the United States and Canada safe from dangers originating from the sky or space. For Christmas, however, the Colorado-based government agency adds one more important task to its daily list of duties. The agency will again provide its Official Santa Tracker that marks The Big Man's every move as he makes his way throughout both hemispheres. Included on the site is a countdown and activity page and a flight tracking system. Going to be out of the house? Don't worry, you can track Santa on your smartphone or …

Spread some Christmas magic (or laughs) by sharing those adorable (or scary) pictures of kids sitting on Santa's lap here!

Either way, share some of the Christmas fun by posting your latest pictures of children sitting on the big man's lap. If there are enough submissions, the top photos will be shared in another story!  Take a look at some photos shared on creepysantaphotos.com, for a good laugh or a shiver.  To post your own photo, click "upload photos and videos" at the top of this story.  Looking for hours and information about Santa at South Park Mall? 5 Holistic Tips to Cope with Holiday Blues

Dealing with stress or feelings of loneliness this holiday season? The Cleveland Clinic's wellness coordinator gives simple ways to beat the holiday blues.

“Fitness, nutrition, mind, body and spirit are all connected,” said Cleveland Clinic Wellness Coordinator and RN, Rose Hosler. She suggests five, low- to no-cost ways, that improve overall well-being and keep stress levels in check. 1. Take Time to Breathe: Sit quietly for one minute, breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. You could do this while driving to and from work, before sitting down to eat, or at bedtime. The Benefit: Research shows taking deep breaths four times a day improves cognitive function by 20 percent. “Just step back. When you pause to take a deep breath it calms your mind and body,” said Hosler. For emotional and physical benefits she suggests breathing deep four times a day. 2. Use Aromatherapy: …

Fruitcakes You'll Want To Eat: What is Your Favorite?

Fruitcakes, like mother-in-laws, have a negative stereotype. But that doesn't mean they're all bad.

My husband is a connoisseur of fruitcakes. What's that you say? He must have a cast iron stomach because fruitcakes are usually inedible? Well, he may have a cast iron stomach, but it's unrelated to his love of the candied fruit of a fruitcake. Although, I must say that I gasped in horror the first time I saw my husband open up a Christmas gift from his mother and it was a fruitcake. And it wasn't just any fruitcake. It was a Collin Street Bakery fruitcake. It's one of his favorite gifts.  Every time my husband gets one and jokes about how he's going to eat the whole thing in one sitting. And every time he says that, my mother-in-law always reminds him how expensive it is. Fruitcakes, the good ones, aren't that hard to find, are they? If …

What Does Hanukkah Mean? Hanukkah 2012 Starts Dec. 8

Temptation to switch is the real story of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.

Would you switch from Coke to Pepsi? What about changing your driving habits to reduce carbon emissions? Would you Occupy Wall Street? Would you change your religion? Temptation to switch is the real story of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, which begins this year on Sat., Dec 8 at sundown, and lasts for eight days. It’s relevant today as a way to think about what we’re willing to give up. How much pop culture can we accept into our lives, and how much of our tradition (be it Indian, Catholic or Jewish) do we want to preserve? Pressure to conform Some 2,000 years ago, Greeks dominated the world from Western Europe to India and imposed their cultural philosophy, “Hellenism,” on their subjects. Greek culture, language and philosophy were …

Hi friends! I'm the Patch Elf on the Shelf. Call me Patchy. I've heard that more of my friends are hanging around the area lately, and I wondered what they were up to. Could their families post pictures here on Cuyahoga Falls Patch to show me? I'd love to catch up with them.  We all go back to Santa on Christmas Eve, but in the meantime, we'll be watching you!
