President Barack Obama presented a comprehensive gun control proposal to the country on Wednesday, about one month after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn. The Huffington Post reports that the proposal includes four major sections, focusing on topics like law enforcement, mental health, school safety and the availability of dangerous weapons. Many of these measures would require congressional action and could cost up to $500 million. The president also announced more than 20 executive orders that can go into effect immediately, the New York Times reports. Northeast Ohio Carry organization lists a number of Cuyahoga Falls businesses allowing customers to pack heat.
It looks like Cuyahoga Falls is a fairly gun-friendly city. That’s according to the Northeast Ohio Carry organization, which recently posted a list of the businesses in Ohio that it knows allow people to bring in guns. According to the list, Cuyahoga Falls has at least six businesses listed that allow people to bring in a gun. That includes Dunkin Donuts and Rockne's, along with other restaurants. Nearby Akron has nearly 30 gun-friendly businesses on the list. There are just three Cuyahoga Falls businesses on the "do not carry" list. The list is not all-inclusive and is based on submissions, so information could change. The answer isn’t easy to find.
Do you know how many of your neighbors have a license to carry a concealed weapon? No? That’s because Ohio keeps those records private. The state releases a quarterly report of all the concealed carry licenses issued, renewed and suspended by county, but that’s as far as the breakdown goes. Information by city or zip code is not available. A representative from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office told Patch via email that the Ohio Revised Code allows journalists to view the list of license holders, but not to copy the information. The code defines the records as confidential. Journalists are the only individuals named in that portion of the law who are allowed to view the records and are defined as those employed by or otherwise connected…
