Bold Car Theft Leaves Victims Jeep-Less

The following was obtained from a Cuyahoga Falls police report dated Feb. 21. It does not indicate a conviction.

A daring car thief reportedly slipped through an open side door of a Howe Avenue home, grabbed keys and a pack of cigarettes and drove away in a resident's Jeep Wrangler. Estimated loss: $10,000. According to Cuyahoga Falls police, the theft occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 20. The 2003 Jeep is gold with a soft black top, and includes a front winch and U.S. Army spare wheel cover. Grand Theft Taurus; Stolen Handgun; and Toys 'R' Us Theft

The following was pulled from Cuyahoga Falls Police reports dated Dec. 4-5.

Wait, where were the keys? A Cuyahoga Falls resident reported his purple 2001 Ford Taurus was stolen from the 600 block of Taylor Avenue on Dec. 5. According to the Cuyahoga Falls Police report, the absent-minded car owner admitted he had left the keys sitting in the ignitionp prior to the theft. Total loss: $2,000. Caught in the act Toys ‘R’ Us management caught an employee stealing iPod’s from the store and decided to turn him in on Dec. 4. The MP3 players, valued at $400, were recovered by the toy store. The employee was fired, cited for theft and is set to appear in Stow Municipal Court on Dec. 11. Good Samaritans Thwart Burglary; Stolen Guns; Timeshare Scam; and Grand Theft Auto

Neighbors thwart attempted burglary On Nov. 11, two Cuyahoga Falls residents spotted a suspicious character walking up to a residence in the 1600 block of 13th St. As they approached the home to investigate, they heard a loud bang and quickly confronted the young man who was trying to break through a side door. The would-be burglar immediately ran, threw his bike over the back fence of the property and rode off into the Quirk Cultural Center parking lot. There are several witnesses and Cuyahoga Falls Police are investigating. Grand theft Chrysler A purple 1998 Chrysler Concorde was stolen from RadAir, located at 1200 W. Suspected Heroin Dealer Arrested; Potheads Nabbed; and Grand Theft Acura

Dangerous prank According to a Nov.5 Cuyahoga Falls Police report, a foolish hooligan rolled up a newspaper, lit it on fire and threw it on the deck of a Clyde Avenue apartment. The troublemaker then smashed eggs against the residence and fled. Fortunately, the newspaper didn't start a fire. There are no leads or suspects. Cut and run A resident living in the 2000 block of Towpath Boulevard reported a hooligan slashed five tires on three separate cars parked in his driveway on Nov. 4. Total damage: $700. A mischievous group entered Water Works Park early Monday morning and moved the soccer goals from the field and set them on a nearby roadway. They also stacked several picnic tables to make a giant pyramid. Police reported there was no damage to the park property. His own worst enemy A man was picked up Sunday morning for public intoxication after he was spotted near Oakwood Drive yelling at no one. Tax cheat On Monday morning, a 6th Street resident reported someone used her identity to receive an IRS tax refund valued at $5,000. Grand theft jalopy Someone stole a man’s 1989 Oldsmobile Delta on Tuesday morning from the Marc’s on Howe Road. The jalopy and various items inside the car were valued at $600. Daytime burglaries

Police Blotter: $50,000 Burglary, Grand Theft and Failed Dognapping

A High Bridge Road resident reported an unknown number of thieves broke down her back door and stole a considerable amount of jewelry on Thursday afternoon. Initial estimates put the value of the stolen jewels at $50,000 or more.   Woman loses car, computer and cash On Friday morning, a woman reported someone she knew stole her Ford Taurus, laptop and $30. The car, computer and cash were valued at $3,500. Quick-handed thief A woman reported a thief had slyly swiped $900 in cash from her purse while it was sitting in her Acme shopping cart on Friday. No one saw who took it. Trespassing on school grounds Two men somehow broke into Cuyahoga Falls High School on Friday night and were seen wandering around the hallways via surveillance systems…

  Gunpoint road rage Late Monday night, a man decided to end a traffic altercation by pulling a handgun. The man asked the motorist – whom he was arguing with – whether or not “he wanted to get shot tonight,” according to a Cuyahoga Falls police report.
