Smash and grab On May 6 at 8:44 a.m., the owner of Studio Eleven -- located at 1714 Portage Trail -- contacted police after someone smashed through her door and entered the business while it was closed. The thief reportedly stole cash from a register and fled, according to a Cuyahoga Falls police report. Total loss and damage: $1,000. Busted Robert L. Bauer, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, was hit with a pair of felonies on May 4 after police found heroin, cocaine, a burnt spoon and syringes in his car during a routine traffic stop, according to a police report. Suspected overdose A Studio City resident called 911 May 3 at 1:58 a.m. after finding Shane Stott, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, unconscious in her apartment. Stott was rushed to Summa Western Reserve Hospital and pronounced dead at 2:32 a.m., according to a police report. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office is still waiting on the toxicology report to determine the official cause of death. Cuyahoga Falls Police Lt. Steve Guldeman said an initial investigation has led detectives to suspect Stott died from a heroin overdose. Conned A Cuyahoga Falls resident reportedly gave someone $2,000 to secure sweepstakes winnings. By April 27, after a year of sending money, the man grew suspicious and called Falls police. Officers quickly deduced the sweepstakes was a sham, and police have no leads on the suspected con man. Thieves love unlocked doors A Cuyahoga Falls woman arrived to her unlocked 11th Street home on April 26 and realized her Apple MacBook and TVs had been swiped. Total loss: $3,500. Crimestoppers and the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department are offering $2,000 each to find the suspects, reports our news partner WEWS Channel 5.
This is the fourth time a major vandalism has occurred at the cemetery within the last 10 months and authorities are now offering a hefty reward to catch the suspects responsible. On April 16, a city groundskeeper called Cuyahoga Falls police to report that more than 20 headstones had been overturned at Oakwood Cemetery. In late March, vandals reportedly smashed 31 gravestones and monuments, according to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Facebook page. A $4,000 reward is being offered to catch the vandals who damaged dozens of headstones at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls, our news partner at WEWS Channel 5 reports.
