Cuyahoga Falls Officer Gets Royal Treatment at Cavs Game: Pic of the Day

Officer Gregory Kenepp was honored at the March 20 Cleveland Cavaliers Game as a Community Hero

Cuyahoga Falls Police Officer Gregory Kenepp got a pretty big "thank you" from the Cleveland Cavaliers March 20. The athletes designated the Green resident a Community Hero and honored him at their match with the Miami Heat that night. The Cleveland Cavs fanatic was chosen from more than 300 people to spend an evening with the basketball team. Disgruntled Dad Screams Expletives Inside Elementary School: Crime Blotter

Police responded to Lincoln Elementary School March 15 to find a man who reportedly was shouting expletives with parents and children in earshot. Cuyahoga Falls police got the call about the man about 7:30 p.m. that day, but by the time they arrived, the man was nowhere to be found. The man had been threatening to beat up his ex-wife's current husband. According to the police report, officials planned to serve the man a court summons. Burglaries around the Falls Man uses forehead to dent police cruiser A 25-year-old man was charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal damaging after banging his forehead into the trunk of a police cruiser so hard that he left a dent in the trunk. Nurse Solicited For Sex While Giving Hospice Care: Crime Blotter

A State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) told Cuyahoga Falls police she was solicited for sex while giving hospice care to a person living in the 2800 block of Cedar Hill Road. The incidents occurred between Sept. 1, 2012, and March 18. The Crossroads Hospice worker reported that a man offered her money in return for sexual intercourse when she was providing hospice care to a patient at the patient's residence. She told police she was unsure whether she'd like to prosecute. Soliciting is a third-degree misdemeanor, according to the Cuyahoga Falls police report. Thieves Plunder Portage Crossing: Crime Blotter

Thieves hit up Portage Crossing recently and stole nearly $20,000 in construction supplies. A Thompson Electric employee told Cuyahoga Falls police someone stole five bundles of galvanized conduit (in 3-inch diameter) and eight sets of anchor bolts from the construction site near Portage Trail and State Road. Total estimated loss is $19,520. The items were stolen sometime between March 11 and March 18. Car break-ins around the Falls

They've been working at that site off and on since August of last year (2012). If you haven't noticed, there are signs all over the place, because part of the work was to widen the roads in the area. The mayor is doing a great job. It's just a sign of the times -- everyone is feeling the "crunch" and I'm sure it affects construction companies as well.   more ›

Men Make Off With $225 in Cigarettes From Walgreens While Clerk's Back is Turned

Police said the men ordered the large amount of cigarettes and when the clerk bent down to retrieve more, the two grabbed what was on the counter and ran

While a clerk's back was turned, two men were able to make it out of Walgreens Wednesday night with about $225 in Newport 100s. If that sounds like a lot of cigarettes, it is. That's 40 boxes, according to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. Police said the men ordered the large amount of cigarettes and when the clerk bent down to retrieve more, the two grabbed what was on the counter and ran. The Walgreens employee described the suspects as two black men in their late 30s dressed in all black. They left the store at 2645 State Road in a gray four-door vehicle of an unknown make about 11:45 p.m. that night. Turkeys thrown into resident's car A resident in the 1700 block of 11th Street told police someone threw two frozen turkeys through the back window of her car, breaking the window, sometime on March 8. Damage is estimated at $200. Identity theft thwarted An Akron man told police someone nearly gained access to his bank account by providing bank employees at Valley Savings Bank, 140 Portage Trail, with the victim's date of birth and social security number. The suspect had called the bank trying to change the online password on March 11 or 12. Suspected Drunken Driver Plows Through Flower Garden and Into Flagpole and Stairs

A Strongsville man was arrested Saturday night after crashing into the outdoor brick steps at 2000 Americhem Way

A suspected drunken driver plowed through a flower bed and into a flagpole and a brick staircase in Cuyahoga Falls Saturday night. According to a traffic crash report from the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, the Strongsville man was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country westbound on Broad Boulevard about 10:50 p.m. Saturday. The man's car left the road on the right side and entered the property at 2000 Americhem Way. He drove through a flower bed and crashed into a flagpole and two sections of stairs. The man was not injured, but he was charged with failure to control and operating a vehicle under the influence. Property owners were notified about the crash, according to the report. Sweepstakes scheme An elderly woman living in the 3300 block of Reserve Drive was swindled out of $100,000 to $150,000 after sending money to several individuals who promised her millions of dollars in "winnings" through various sweepstakes. The woman had been sending money since September 2012. Car shenanigans on Morrison Avenue A woman in the 300 block of Morrison Avenue told police someone stuck wet cotton balls on her car, which is driven by her teenage daughter, sometime March 8. The day before, on the 7th, someone threw concrete inside the car and smeared it with "various substances," according to the police report.
