Census Releases New Data on Cuyahoga Falls

Falls growth slow and steady over past decade

The Census Bureau released data of the 2010 census today, showing Cuyahoga Falls grew in the 10-year period between 2000 and 2010, but only by 278 people. Unlike larger urban cities such as Cleveland, Cuyahoga Falls showed relative stability in its population. in 2010 the median age in Cuyahoga Falls was 39.4 years. The median age of the male population was 37.8 in 2010, and the median female population was 40.9.  The median age was 38.8 for all of Ohio. In 2000, the Cuyahoga Falls median age was 37.2.  Broader census data suggest that as the baby ages, the median age tends to climb as well. The first baby boomers are now in their 60s. Census: Growth in Stow Municipal Court Districts

According to the Census, about 11,000 more people live in the districts served by the municipal court in Stow.

The Stow Municipal Court, which serves 16 community districts, saw a growth of about 11,000 people despite a declining trend in population throughout Ohio in 2010. Now, the court serves 190,000 people, according to the 2010 Census results. In 1990, the court served 160,000 people when it was in Cuyahoga Falls. “We moved to Stow and built the new court house, knowing that our district would continue to grow, particularly in the northern part of the county,” said Stow Municipal Court Judge Kim Hoover.  “We are well-prepared and ideally situated to serve the needs of our growing constituency.”  The court's growth during the last 20 years has "been so great that it now serves a larger population than the Dayton, Parma and Youngstown [Municipal…

Census 2010 Shows More Diversity in Cuyahoga Falls

The Latino population more than doubles in a decade.

Since 2000, the population in Cuyahoga Falls grew slightly by about 278 residents, according to U.S. Census data released Wednesday afternoon. The Latino community was a fast-growing segment of the population, more than doubling from 309 to 672 during the past decade. The number of blacks increased by 77 percent to 1,642 total. Seeing a shrinking pattern, the city’s white population dropped by 1.9 percent.  As shown in the charts below, the voting population increased by almost 1,000 residents since 2000.
