Dear Mr. Romney: Your welcoming letter to President Obama felt a little sketchy to me. I remember, as I am certain my fellow Ohioans remember, you supporting actions, or in many cases inaction, which would have cost Ohioans their jobs, their homes and their rights. You, Mr. Romney, made it clear that you don't understand how average Ohioans live and support their families. That is why you did not support the auto industry bail out and in fact said "Let Detroit go bankrupt." Unlike you, President Obama understands that the auto industry is the backbone of livable-wage jobs for Ohio's middle class and without those jobs they could not feed their families or pay their mortgages. No reason immediately available for cancellation.
Cuyahoga Falls school board candidate Mike Penta told Cuyahoga Falls Patch that the Cuyahoga Falls PTSA has canceled a Candidates Night session scheduled to take place Oct. 19 at Bolich Middle School. No reason for the cancellation was immediately available, but the PTA had said in a published announcement that no video or audio recording devices would be allowed at the session, a ban that most if not all of the candidates opposed. Such a ban apparently would have been in violation of Ohio "sunshine" laws, which do not allow public meetings to ban such media devices with very few exceptions (some parole hearings, executive sessions, matters involving minors). Board seeks to have Holland successor in place Aug. 1.
The Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education has narrowed the field to two candidates for the position of district superintendent. Final interviews will take place June 14 and 15. Candidate Domenic Paolo, superintendent of Fairport Harbor Exempted Village School District, and Candidate Dr. Todd Nicholas, superintendent of Bucyrus City School District, have been selected from among 20 original applicants to the position.
