Cuyahoga Falls Police reportedly caught Anthony L. Phillips in the midst of a burglary last Friday. The target: his ex-wife's apartment, according to the police report. When officers arrived on Nov. 23 at 4:26 p.m., they found Phillips in her garage. As police canvassed the scene, it appeared he had entered the unlocked apartment and intended to steal several items from her bedroom. Police also found a key to the apartment on Phillips, which he had obtained without his ex-wife's permission. Phillips was charged with burglary, a fourth-degree felony. He was arraigned in Stow Municipal Court, pled not guilty and is awaiting a preliminary hearing, slated for Dec. 6. According to the Stow Clerk of Court's Office, his case will likely be …

Heroin stop During a routine traffic stop on Howe Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls Police searched a woman's car and found spoons and hypodermic needles that were allegedly used to prepare and inject heroin. The 26-year-old woman, from Orrville, Ohio, was arrested and charged with drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Stolen handgun On Nov. 24, a man reported a handgun was stolen from his unlocked truck parked in his driveway. The crime occurred in the 1800 block of Oneida Avenue. Total loss: $600. Felonies are like diamonds -- they're very costly and last forever. Eric N. Fisher, 35, of Cuyahoga Falls, should make note of the analogy. On Wednesday, Fisher was plucked from a Falls residence by police after being linked to the Nov. 17 Georgio's Oven Fresh Pizza Co. burglary, according to a police press release. He reportedly made off with $1,200 in cash and property, and caused $300 in damage when kicking in the back door of the Front Street pizza business. He was charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, and will be held in Summit County Jail until his Nov. 26 arraignment at Stow Municipal Court.

Cuyahoga Falls Police are investigating a burglary that occured Friday night at Georgio's Oven Fresh Pizza Co. after business hours. According to the police report, an unknown number of thieves kicked in the back door of the business, smashed open a safe and stole about $1,200 in cash and property. The broken safe was found outside the business. According to police radio traffic, officers took pictures of the roughly $300 in damage to the pizza shop and brought in a finger print kit in an attempt to identify those responsible. Georgio's owner Beth A. Mathoslah said she intends to press charges if police make an arrest in connection to the incident.

Daytime burglary A woman living in the 3100 block of 8th Street called Cuyahoga Falls Police on Nov. 14 after her house was ransacked in an apparent daytime burglary. Multiple possessions were stolen. Total loss: $600. Police are investigating and the woman does wish to prosecute if the culprit is found. Neighbors thwart attempted burglary On Nov. 11, two Cuyahoga Falls residents spotted a suspicious character walking up to a residence in the 1600 block of 13th St. As they approached the home to investigate, they heard a loud bang and quickly confronted the young man who was trying to break through a side door. On Nov. 11 at 5:45 a.m., a 23-year-old woman called Stow Police because she said a man she knew broke into her apartment at the 3900 block of Windham Ridge while she was asleep and got in bed with her. She told police the man began pressing and rubbing his erect penis on her while putting his hands up her shirt. She said he also took miscellaneous things from her apartment, like a gold door knocker and a small piece of silver. When police arrived, they arrested Abdecrahman Samy Shendy, 23, of Cuyahoga Falls. Police said they suspected the man was under the influence of alcohol. Police charged Shendy with burglary, a second-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony. Mr. Fix-It imposter A livid Saxe Avenue man called Cuyahoga Falls Police on Oct. 25, and said he was swindled out of $4,000. According to the police report, the unassuming man forked over the cash to a friend who agreed to fix his 1979 Pontiac Firebird. Instead, the quasi-mechanic reportedly caused $6,000 worth of damage to the car. The Falls man intends to press charges. At 4 a.m. Thursday, Edward Grether awoke to a stranger breaking into his Cuyahoga Falls residence. Grether ran into his front yard, called Cuyahoga Falls Police and reported a man had smashed into his home at 3132 Akron Peninsula Road, according to a police press release. When officers arrived, they found Jacob S. Parker, 22, of Akron, asleep in Grether’s bed. As officers attempted to remove Parker from the house, he woke up, turned violent and was subsequently tasered. Officers then searched Parker’s car, which was parked in Grether’s driveway with the driver’s side door open.
