Watch that first step, it's a doozy On the evening of April 25, a drunk Cuyahoga Falls woman was struck by a passing car as she started to jaywalk at the intersection of Portage Trail and Fourth Street. According to a Cuyahoga Falls police report, the driver had no time to stop and was not at fault. The woman, who sustained a leg injury in the accident, was cited for disorderly conduct and transferred to Summa Western Reserve Hospital. Better lock your doors A resident called police on April 23 after someone slipped through an unlocked door of his house and stole $515 in property. Vandals strike again On April 16 at 9:20 a.m., a city groundskeeper called Cuyahoga Falls police to report that more than 20 headstones had been overturned at Oakwood Cemetery. This is the fourth time a major vandalism has occurred at the cemetery within the last 10 months. In late March, vandals reportedly smashed 31 gravestones and monuments, according to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Facebook page. Crimestoppers is offering a reward in exchange for information that leads to one or more arrests. Falls police pledged it would match the amount to increase the likelihood of finding those responsible. As of April 22, police have no suspects or leads. Here's what's known, according to Cuyahoga Falls police reports: March 27, 8:02 a.m. One or more burglars reportedly smashed through the front door of the Cuttin It Up beauty salon on Bailey Road and broke open a charity box located inside the store. According to the salon owner, nothing was missing from the business, although, she does wish to prosecute if the culprit is caught. Drugging and driving At 3 p.m. Feb. 25, a 22-year-old North Canton man, reportedly high on keyboard cleaner, crashed his car into a tree. The man reportedly inhaled a 12-ounce aerosol can then passed out and crashed in the 200 block of Roselane Street SW. The process is known as "huffing," where inhalants are used to induce alcohol-like intoxication. The police report did not indicate whether he was treated for injuries. Dagostine, 43, of Tallmadge, was charged Feb. 26 with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in connection with a Huntington Bank heist in Cuyahoga Falls. Fortunately, police did not have to track him down as Dagostine was already being held in Summit County Jail on a separate robbery charge. Highly questionable behavior On Feb. 16 at 7:35 a.m., a 54-year-old Stow woman alerted Cuyahoga Falls police after she reportedly spotted a man masturbating while driving on State Route 8. With the tip, officers were able to find and arrest the 29-year-old Canton man. He was charged with public indecency, a third-degree misdemeanor, according to the Cuyahoga Falls police report. Valentine's Day misfortune An Akron woman called Cuyahoga Falls police and reported her Sandhill residence had been burglarized at about 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 14. Contemptible con A Verizon Wireless employee called a Cuyahoga Falls man last month after someone tried to sign up for a smart phone with his dead father's personal information, according to a Feb. 5 Cuyahoga Falls police report. Officers were unsure who attempted the contemptible con, and referred the man and his mother to the city's prosecutor. Better luck next time On Feb. 5, an unknown number of thieves kicked in the door of a Haas Avenue residence and tried to steal a Sentry Safe from inside the home. On Dec. 7 at 11:47 a.m., Cuyahoga Falls Police received a call that an alleged burglar was climbing through a window at 2522 State Rd #2. Officers responded to the apartment and quickly concluded a crime was in progess, but not a burglary, according to a police press release. The Cuyahoga Falls Police Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant, and raided the apartment later in the day. During their search, they found items that indicated the residence was being used to produce methamphetamine. Following the raid, Joshua T.
