Caught! 'Fugitive of the Week' Nabbed in Cleveland

Tip to U.S. Marshal's office led to Roy Young's arrest.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s “Fugitive of the Week"  was arrested in Cleveland on Tuesday, U. S. Marshal Peter J. Elliot confirmed. Roy Young Jr. was caught just after 1 p.m. on Dec. 11, one day after being named Fugitive of the Week. Young was initially believed to be hiding in Lorain County. “We grabbed him this afternoon,” Elliot, of the Northern District of Ohio Marshal's office, said. “We caught him in the 3400 block near W. 120 in Cleveland.” Elliot said it was a hotline tip that led to Young’s arrest. “We arrested him there,” Elliot said. “He was not armed.” Elliot said Young was alone when arrested. He expected Young would first be held in Cleveland and then transferred to Lorain County, where he was wanted by …

Ravenna Man Arrested in Cuyahoga Falls

Portage County sought Thomas Ingram on multiple counts of theft.

Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak announced the arrest of Thomas L. Ingram Jr.  The arrest on Friday came as a result of an anonymous tip made to the Portage County Sheriff's Office in response to an earlier press release.  Authorities learned that Ingram was staying at a motel in Cuyahoga Falls. With the assistance of Cuyahoga Falls police, Ingram was taken into custody without incident.  Ingram is being held at the Portage County Jail, where he will be held until his initial court appearance to be held at 1:15 p.m. Monday at the Ravenna Courthouse.  Multiple arrest warrants have been issued, Doak said.  These include three fifth-degree felony counts of theft  and seven first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft.  Doak reports that over …

Falls Police Raid Suspected Meth Lab

SWAT team executes search warrant at Silver Lake Avenue home.

A Cuyahoga Falls SWAT team raided a Silver Lake Avenue home about 8 p.m. Tuesday evening and found equipment for a methamphetamine lab, hazardous materials and several weapons. Police in a press release said, “On May 10, 2011, the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department Narcotics Unit during an investigation learned of a methamphetamine lab located at 740 Silver Lake (Ave.) in Cuyahoga Falls.”  “A search warrant was obtained. The Cuyahoga Falls SWAT team executed the search warrant at approximately 8 p.m. without incident.” Two juveniles, age 13 and 14, were detained and turned over to Summit County Children Services. Cuyahoga Falls police officers had their hands full this past week. Akron resident Douglas Baker, 42, faces one charge of theft and another charge of obstruction stemming from an incident at Giant Eagle, 75 Graham Road, just before 2 a.m. Monday morning. Police said Baker stole numerous items from the grocery store and fled from an off-duty police officer before being arrested. Falls Man Arrested for Marijuana Growing Operation

The narcotics unit and detectives find the drug and tools to grow more at a home on Hudson Drive.

A Cuyahoga Falls man faces a laundry list of charges after police discover a marijuana growing operation at his home. John R. Jones Jr., 37, was arrested on Thursday, April 21, on charges of cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana, criminal tools, drug paraphernalia and child endangering. Cuyahoga Falls Police report the narcotics unit and detective bureau used a search warrant to enter the residence in the 2800 block of Hudson Drive. Detectives found items used for growing marijuana, more than 200 grams of marijuana, marijuana seeds, growing lights and equipment, police said in a press release. Jone’s14-year-old child was taken to Summit County Children Services.

Late Afternoon Drunken Driving Arrests on the Rise

Cuyahoga Falls Police reports unusually high number of daytime drunken driving arrests in January and February.

Late afternoon and early evening drunken driving arrests kept Cuyahoga Falls police officers busy in the early months of 2011. Lieutenant Dale P. Gramley said that lately, he's noticed significant upswing in afternoon DUI arrests during January and February. The department’s third shift, which begins at 4 p.m. and ends at midnight, traditionally averages between four and eight DUI arrests each month.  But in January motorists racked up 14 DUI arrests during that shift. “It was really unusual for our shift to have 14 DUIs,” Gramley said. “We didn’t have any major holidays, which typically lead to an increase in DUI arrests.” DUI arrests are often much higher during the summer months, likely due to the abundance of holiday celebrations -- …

Two Men Arrested in Pot Bust

Police and the Summit County Drug Unit find 18 pounds of marijuana and drug-related tools.

Police arrested two men after discovering pounds of marijuana inside a Cuyahoga Falls apartment. Mark G. Wooldridge, 22, of Bowling Green and Antonio V. Dorman, 21, of Akron, were arrested on felony drug trafficking charges Tuesday. The Cuyahoga Falls Narcotics Unit and the Summit County Drug Unit used a search warrant to raid the apartment at 4175 Americana Dr. Police seized 18 pounds of marijuana, a handgun, plastic bags, a digital scale and other drug-related tools.  About 10 pounds of the marijuana was in brick form, wrapped in plastic.

Suspect Nabbed In Front Street Beating

A Silver Lake teen was taken into custody on charges in connection with the beating of another teen.

A Silver Lake teen is charged in connection with a beating of another teen at a downtown parking deck. The 16-year-old suspect is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, a Cuyahoga Falls Police Department press release said. The victim, a 16-year-old Cuyahoga Falls resident, suffered head injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital, police said. Police could not provide the name of the hospital. The incident took place Dec. 10 at the 2049 Front Street parking deck, near the ice rink and mall. The suspect was arrested at Cuyahoga Falls High School on Dec. 17. At the end of the summer, the police department announced it would change its patrol patterns near the Front Street Mall area after receiving reports …
