Falls Teenager Beaten, Robbed in Home Invasion

The Cuyahoga Falls Detectives Bureau is investigating the aggravated burglary.

A 16-year-old Cuyahoga Falls resident alerted police May 8 after two unidentified burglars reportedly stormed into his Magnolia Avenue house, covered his face and beat him.  According to the teenager, the men punched and kicked him, and hit him with a glass bottle.  The burglars then reportedly stole several electronic devices and fled.  Officers rushed to the scene and brought the K-9 unit in an attempt to track the suspects; however, the trail quickly went cold, said Cuyahoga Falls Police Lt. Police Investigating Recent Business Break-Ins

Thieves have targeted local businesses after hours.

The owner of Athena's restaurant called Cuyahoga Falls police May 7 after someone smashed out the front door of the State Road business, entered and stole $100 from a cash register.  This is just one of several recent incidents where a thief has broken out the glass door of a business after hours to steal money or property. String of Burglaries Reported in Cuyahoga Falls According to Cuyahoga Falls police Lt. Steve Guldeman, the Athena's break-in is under investigation as are several other similar crimes recently committed.  Guldeman said it may or may not be the same thief, and that further investigation by the Cuyahoga Falls Detective's Bureau may yield more details.

UPDATE: Cuyahoga Falls Girl Found

Family members reported Elizabeth Anne Fitzgerald, 11, of Cuyahoga Falls, went missing Monday afternoon. She was located Tuesday morning.

May 21, 10:41 a.m. Elizabeth Fitzgerald has been located. According to family, Fitzgerald was found hiding with a friend in a Cuyahoga Falls residence in the 700 block of Nutwood Avenue.  "Sorry to have caused a large concern but we did not know where she was and this is her first time running away and (she) did not exhibit any behavior of doing so. She is safe with the police at the moment," said family member Daniel McNutt via Facebook.   May 21, 10:10 a.m. Elizabeth Anne Fitzgerald, a Bolich Middle School student, was reported missing at 10 p.m. Monday night via Facebook. Rash of Rent Money Thefts Reported in Cuyahoga Falls

Thieves have targeted certain areas in 13 northeast Ohio cities, including Cuyahoga Falls, Stow and Twinsburg, according to our partners at NewsNet5.com.

Our partners at NewsChannel5 have uncovered reports of thefts from apartment complex rent drop boxes in 13 Northeast Ohio towns, including Cuyahoga Falls.   The towns and cities that have targeted by rent drop box thieves include Broadview Heights, Brunswick, Brimfield Township, Coventry Township, Cuyahoga Falls, Jackson Township, Medina, Montville, North Royalton, Perry Township, Strongsville, Stow and Twinsburg. Surveillance cameras at Wyoga Lake Commons in Cuyahoga Falls captured a theft on May 2. In the video, you see the thief insert a wire with a sticky substance on it into the complex's rent drop box. Authorities Looking for Fugitive Wanted for Murder During Dice Game

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Demetrice Cannon.

  Demetrice Cannon, 28, is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cleveland Police for aggravated murder.  It is alleged that Cannon shot and killed a man after an argument during a dice game, according to a press release. The incident took place earlier this month on May 2.         Cannon is a black male standing approximately 5’05” and weighing 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Cannon is suspected to be hiding out somewhere in the Cleveland area. He also had a previous address near the 1200 block of E. 80th St. in Cleveland. Cuyahoga Falls Kidnapper Sentenced to Prison

Brandon J. Richards, 23, of Cuyahoga Falls, was sentenced after pleading guilty in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas.

Brandon J.  Richards was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping a woman at gunpoint in January.  After Richards, 23, of Cuyahoga Falls, changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on May 6, he was convicted the next day of kidnapping with a firearm specification, a first-degree felony; gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony; trafficking in marijuana, a fifth-degree felony; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; and violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to Daniel Horrigan, the Summit County Clerk of Courts. Drunken Driving Checkpoint in Portage County Saturday Night

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the checkpoint it announced earlier this week was will be in Portage County Saturday evening. The exact location of the drunken driving checkpoint will be known Saturday morning. Man Found Dead in Cuyahoga Falls

Police are investigating the death of a man found at his apartment early Thursday morning.

Cuyahoga Falls police responded to a call about an unresponsive 59-year-old man in a Tallmadge Road apartment around 12:40 a.m. Thursday. 19 Action News reports the man's body was found near the entrance of the apartment building at 840 Tallmadge Rd.  Cuyahoga Falls police don't suspect foul play, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.  The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct the autopsy.  For more information, read the full 19actionnews.com story.  

Driver Found With Heroin, Cocaine, Syringes; Thief Goes on Spending Spree: Crime Blotter

Smash and grab On May 6 at 8:44 a.m., the owner of Studio Eleven -- located at 1714 Portage Trail -- contacted police after someone smashed through her door and entered the business while it was closed.  The thief reportedly stole cash from a register and fled, according to a Cuyahoga Falls police report.  Total loss and damage: $1,000.  Busted Robert L. Bauer, 42, of Cuyahoga Falls, was hit with a pair of felonies on May 4 after police found heroin, cocaine, a burnt spoon and syringes in his car during a routine traffic stop, according to a police report.  Bauer was charged with drug possession, a fifth-degree felony; drunken driving, a first-degree misdemeanor; and drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor.
