When it came time to pick a preschool, we wanted something at would not only meet our daughter where she was at, academically and socially, but also a school that would guide her in the right direction. From day one we saw this at AMMS. The teachers and staff are kind, caring, and so excited about school it just rubs off her. They are always willing to go the extra mile for her (and every student there).
The curriculum includes not only kindergarten readiness, but exposure to a variety of material. For example - Mr. John's science experiments! She has learned to form a "hypothesis" and to think about different possibilities when presented with a question. While she may not fully understand all the steps of the scientific methods, she knows that it all starts with "what will happen if I...." She also has developed an appreciation for science and thinks it is really fun.
Since both of us work, we needed "daycare" but we wanted more then just all day babysitting for her. AMMS is one of the few true preschools that we found that has a 5-day/all day option as well as before and after care. It is a full educational opportunity for her from the moment she walks in till she leaves!
She is a preschooler reading early reader books on her own and can count to 10 in several languages! She has grown and developed into a wonderful student who loves school and learning more everyday! She has learned structure, to stay on a schedule and to act as leader. THANK YOU AMMS!!!
I am so appreciative for Absorbent Minds Montessori School (AMMS)! Two years ago I was beginning the search for where I would enroll my son for preschool. I visited and toured three different schools and spoke on the phone to many more. I am a first grade teacher and have a master’s degree in education. Due to my background in education I had a long list of requirements regarding which school would be right for my son. I can tell you that AMMS made my choice an easy one! It was by far the hands-down best choice I found! My son has been a student for a year and a half and I am still thrilled with AMMS!
I am continually impressed with how organized, clean and professional AMMS is. AMMS keeps the classrooms kid-friendly, safe, and clean. I really appreciate the level of communication AMMS offers to parents. Brandy and Kelly run the office extremely efficiently and keep the staff and parents well informed. The integrity they show in running their school is rock-solid.
My son had a very difficult time adjusting to his first year of school. Brandy, Kelly and his other teachers were incredibly patient, kind, supportive and empathetic. They offered their time over and over for conferences, phone calls and emails. We talked, laughed and even cried together! I am thankful that teaching young children is more than a “job” for the staff at AMMS. I believe they see teaching young children as a calling.
