Rockin' on the River Has Tropical Atmosphere

Headliner The Boat Drunks described as "Buffett and more": Expect a laid-back, tropical vibe.

This week's edition of Rockin' on the River should suit the tropical weather we've been experiencing. Champaign, IL-based The Boat Drunks should be just the thing for fans of Jimmy Buffett. The Boat Drunks play a combination of Buffet covers and original "Trop Rock" songs.

Launching that tropical groove is Akron-based reggae band Human Nature. Human Nature plays a combination of originals and classic reggae from the likes of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and more.

Rockin' on the River is from 5 p.m. to midnight on Fridays during the summer at the amphitheater near Broad Boulevard and Route 8. Admission and parking are free. Food and refreshments including beer are available from many vendors. Do not bring your own stuff, especially alcohol, to Rockin' on the River. That rule is strictly enforced and could win you a night in jail.
