Western Reserve Hospital VP of Graduate Medical Education Named to Blue Ribbon Committee

Hospital Vice President of Graduate Medical Education and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, was named as one of seven members on the OU-HCOM Blue Ribbon Committee on Primary Care Education.

Summa Western Reserve Hospital Vice President of Graduate Medical Education and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Ron Russ, D.O., FACOFP was recently named as one of seven members on the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (OU-HCOM) Blue Ribbon Committee on Primary Care Education. 

As a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee, Dr. Russ will collaborate in helping OU-HCOM become a national leader in primary care education. He will help understand and address central issues and trends that influence career choices in primary care specialties. Committee initiatives will provide insight to facilitate improved educational programming and outcomes to better prepare primary care providers. 

"It is a great honor to be able to bring my experience to the Blue Ribbon Committee, says Dr. Russ. "Our hospital is second to none in training residents and I feel our input through the committee can help shape the physicians of the future."

Dr. Russ oversees seven residency programs at Summa Western Reserve Hospital including programs in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic Surgery (ENT), and Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. The physician-owned and led hospital provides students with a unique training ground that is rooted in service excellence at all points of care. In addition to their technical training, students learn a concierge approach to create safer treatment environments and improved care experiences when attending to patients.
