Summa Western Reserve Hospital was recently named a “Physician-Owned Hospital to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review, a recognized source of business and legal information for hospital and health system leaders.

Summa Western Reserve Hospital was ranked one of the highest performing physician-owned hospitals throughout the United States as a result of its clinical accolades, quality care, patient satisfaction rankings and other criteria. In determining the ranking by Becker’s Hospital Review, the 105-bed, full-service, for-profit Cuyahoga Falls-based hospital was also recognized for excellence by several sources, including Thomson Reuters, HealthGrades, Delta Group CareChex's 2013 hospital quality ratings and CMS' Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, among others.

“We work extremely hard to deliver the safest, highest quality patient-centered care, and this recognition by Becker’s and these other acknowledged sources of hospital quality validates that effort,” said Dr. Robert Kent, president and CEO. “The patient’s needs and desires are paramount, and our mission of always putting the patient first in everything we do allows us to continue to find success. I am proud of the entire Western Reserve Hospital staff in earning this accolade, and look forward to even more accomplishments in the coming year.”

Since the hospital’s inception in 2009, Summa Western Reserve Hospital has also been a regional catalyst for improving patient satisfaction across its six neighboring outpatient locations in Green, Hudson, Kent, Stow, Streetsboro and Warrensville Heights. Recently, the hospital has expanded cardiovascular, MRI, sleep center, lung health and pain management services and implemented a concierge pharmacy approach to bring home-going medications and instructions to the patient upon discharge. A “Patient Satisfaction Physician” is also on staff to visit with every admitted patient during their stay at the hospital in order to address any and all needs or concerns they may have. The hospital is also a teaching facility that sponsors a graduate medical education residency teaching program through the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
