Summa Western Reserve Hospital Welcomes New Volunteer/Human Resources Specialist

Summa Western Reserve Hospital recently announced the appointment of Julia Drinkard to the position of Volunteer/Human Resources Specialist for the Cuyahoga Falls hospital.

As Volunteer/Human Resources Specialist, Julia Drinkard will oversee all aspects of the volunteer experience, provide volunteer training, scheduling and work assignments, coordinate with hospital departments to provide volunteer assistance in critical areas, coordinate patient transport, guide mail delivery services and plan special events and recognition for volunteers. Additionally, Julia will assist the hospital’s human resources department in the recruitment, selection and orientation of volunteers, conduct interviews and background checks,  track volunteer progress and accomplishments and provide reports, internal communications and suggestions to pertinent hospital staff to continually develop support services for patients, guests and hospital staff.

Julia recently served as a Patient-Centered Medical Home Intern for the Ohio Department of Health before joining Summa Western Reserve Hospital. In this role, she developed programs to disperse relevant information to the public regarding the importance of and how to go about taking an active role in healthcare services. She helped explain and navigate new health reform policies and their impact on incentive alignment, collaboration with communities, and transparency in evaluation of provider health outcomes. Julia also served as a Marketing and Community Outreach Intern with Summa Western Reserve Hospital from December, 2011 – April, 2012. In this role, she helped streamline internal and external hospital operations, plan and implement community benefit activities and broaden community education initiatives with area organizations.

Drinkard is a 2012 graduate of Ohio University where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Health Services Administration and minored in Business. She is a 2009 graduate of Hudson High School.
