Walsh Jesuit Baseball Player Named Best in Ohio

MaxPreps handpicked one high school boys baseball player from each state.

Cassidy Brown, a Walsh Jesuit senior who can catch, pitch and swing the timber, was named the best high school baseball player in Ohio on Monday.

MaxPreps -- a go-to source on high school sports -- crowned Brown and 49 other players from each of the 50 states with the coveted distinction.

Brown was an All-State selection in 2012 after batting .432 with 5 homeruns, 25 RBIs and 25 runs, according to MaxPreps. The young prospect can also close on the mound; he had 5 saves last year.

Brown plans to continue his academic and athletic pursuits at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Ca. after the 2013 season.

The sports site stipulated the top player chosen is not necessarily the top prospect. Some players are chosen based on their postseason accolades from the 2012 season.
