Tourney on the Turf - 6th Annual

At the age of three, Ryan Encinas was diagnosed with stage 2 & 3 Pleuro Pulmonary Blastoma, an extremely rare pediatric cancer. There are only about ten cases diagnosed in the United States each year. When admitted to Akron Children’s Hospital, Ryan had a football-sized tumor in his left chest that had collapsed his left lung and crowded his heart. After going through chemotherapy treatments, the size of the tumor decreased. On January 14th, 2011, Ryan underwent his first surgery to remove the tumor along with the lower lobe of his left lung. The insurance company did not cover the surgery, calling it “elective” to remove the cancerous tumor.

This year’s Tourney on the Turf is an event to help raise money for Ryan and his family. Thank you for your help in making this event a huge success. See you on the grass!
