Woodridge Hosts Workshop to Discuss Issues Facing School District

Have questions about the future of Woodridge schools?

District officials have answers.

The Woodridge Local School District will host a workshop starting at 6:30 p.m. March 5 at Woodridge High School to discuss issues facing the district. District administration will be on hand to address concerns from the community.

"The purpose of the workshop is to give Woodridge community members an opportunity to learn more about the changes facing Ohio’s public schools — and in particular — our district," Superintendent Walter C. Davis wrote in an email to Cuyahoga Falls Patch.

"These changes, brought on predominately by House Bill 555 will change the way schools are rated, change the way teachers are evaluated, and change much of what is taught in our schools."

Davis said, because of House Bill 555, changes are on their way. Those include instructional standards, reading guarantees, new tests and new report cards for schools and districts. Additionally, the governor has proposed a new funding scheme for schools across the state.

"We hope residents will join us for an informative evening of information and discussion," Davis wrote.
