I went to college for far too many years! I went part-time and took night classes. I could never figure out what I wanted to do. I always had a good 9 to 5 job while going to college working for a large insurance company and in my spare time, to earn extra money, I would serve at restaurants on the weekends and a few nights a week. Currently, I work for one of the largest construction companies in Northeast Ohio and it’s nice only having one job!

What does your job entail, and what is your career goal?

I run the office and assist the president of the company and a number of engineers and superintendents. I can say my job, at times, may be highly stressful, but I actually like my job. I don't dread going to work Monday through Friday. I would be content to stay here for 30 years and retire. I am happy to have a job to go to every day, especially with the way the economy and unemployment is right now. I am very thankful.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?

I think my biggest accomplishment in my life so far is maintaining my independence, by that I mean being able to support myself financially and not having to rely on anyone. I also feel surviving my twenties was an accomplishment. My thirties are so much better!

What’s your favorite high school memory?

Pep rallies, I loved Fridays when we had pep rallies. First, we got out of class for an hour or so. Second, I always thought our class bonded more during them. Looking back I think there was a sense of camaraderie during pep rallies. I had one goal in mind when I went to pep rallies and that was for my class to win the spirit stick. When we did we wanted to hold on to it.

Which restaurant, social gathering place or other place did you enjoy spending time at in the Falls when you were in school?

When I was in school we had “open lunches” and we were allowed to leave campus to go wherever we wanted. Most of us went to . I liked to be able to leave for lunch and get a burger or a strawberry sundae from DQ. You were also able to see friends during lunch that maybe you might not see normally throughout the day if you stayed in for lunch. I also felt it was a privilege as only juniors and seniors were allowed this opportunity.

What advice would you give to future graduates?

I could give a whole inspirational answer to that but, let’s face it, life can be rough at times and we have to deal with the hand we are dealt. If you know what you want to do with your life, you are on the right track. Make sure you stick to your plan and get it done. If you don’t know, figure it out and do it quick. Don’t let anyone get in your way or hold you up. Life goes by fast and before you know it, you’re an adult and have to act like one. Respect yourself and be a good person. Surround yourself with family and good friends. Remember life’s a garden dig it!
