VIDEO Woodridge School Board Approves New Teachers Contract

The board of education approves a new three-year contract.

After passing a new contract May 2, Woodridge teachers will now have to pay a percentage of their health care costs and will not receive a base pay increase.

The teachers used to pay a flat rates of either $30 for single coverage, $45 for two party coverage and $50 for family coverage each year, but now they will pay a percentage of their health care costs.

The new deal with the Woodridge Education Association expires August 2013.

(The monthly premiums of single, single+1 and family each use actual premiums for 2010-2011 and assuming a 10 percent increase the following years based on the teacher's association.)

Teachers in the district had been on the job without a contract since late July of 2010. The new contract does not include any salary increase on base pay, but step increases remain intact.
