PTA Meet the Candidates Session Canceled

No reason immediately available for cancellation.

Cuyahoga Falls school board candidate Mike Penta told Cuyahoga Falls Patch that the Cuyahoga Falls PTSA has canceled a Candidates Night session scheduled to take place Oct. 19 at Bolich Middle School.

No reason for the cancellation was immediately available, but the PTA had said in a published announcement that no video or audio recording devices would be allowed at the session, a ban that most if not all of the candidates opposed.

Such a ban apparently would have been in violation of Ohio "sunshine" laws, which do not allow public meetings to ban such media devices with very few exceptions (some parole hearings, executive sessions, matters involving minors).

The candidates will be available together at the Cuyahoga Falls Library at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22. Coffee and doughnuts will be offered.
