Falls School Board Prepares for New Academic Year

New superintendent recommends forming a committee to discuss possibility of a May renewal levy.

The met Monday night. Here’s rundown of what was discussed:

  • Superintendent Todd Nichols recommended a committee review the NEOLA policies of the school district, as well as a committee to discuss the potential for a school-district renewal levy on the May 2012 ballot.
  • Among personnel recommendations made by Superintendent Todd Nichols, unanimously approved by the school board were a one-year administrative contract with Intern Psychologist Shannon Ciriello, at an annual salary of $23,464. Also, a two-year administrative contract with Assistant Principal James “Ike” Holzapfel was approved at an annual salary of $61,170.
  • Among personnel recommendations made by Superintendent Todd Nichols, unanimously approved by the school board were a one-year administrative contract with Intern Psychologist Shannon Ciriello, at an annual salary of $23,464.   • The school board approved, 4-0, with Petty abstaining, the appointment of Bob Weinhardt as its representative to the Cuyahoga Falls Library Board from Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2014.
  • The location of the Aug. 13 work session of the school board, which had been scheduled to take place at Quaker Square in Akron, will instead be moved to Cuyahoga Falls at a facility to be determined in the next two days. The new site of the daylong work session will be posted Aug. 10 to the school district website.
  • The school board adjourned from 7:22 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. to executive session to consider the employment and compensation of an employee or official of the school district, reconvening at 8:30 p.m. and adjourning without further action.
