NAMI Summit County Hand to Hand

NAMI Summit County is currently registering for its free Hand to Hand training which begins September 12, 2011, 6:30-8:30 pm.  This course is designed for parents and
family of children with emotional/behavioral/neurological disorders including Bipolar, ODD, OCD, Autism/Aspergers, Anxiety, and Depression etc.  It is a nine week course which meets once a week for two hours.  The course is
conducted by trained parents and will provide a better understanding of many of the issues facing parents who have a child dealing with emotional/behavioral/neurological
disorders.  The course will cover: Understanding the Complex Nature of Diagnosis, What a Diagnosis Means for your Child, Understanding Medications, Family and Coping Skills, Counseling, Therapy, and Other Resources,
Educational Needs and Advocacy, Juvenile Justice and SCCS and Family Advocacy.  The course is offered free of charge with all materials provided and free childcare during the classes.  The next session will be held at the Johnson United Methodist Church, 3409 Johnson Road, Norton.  To register contact Leigh at 330-209-3492 or lwilson9@neo.rr.com or Terrie at 330-396-0097 or tcasenhiser@yahoo.com.
