Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education Appoints New Member

The school board spent the last month interviewing 12 candidates and arrived at its final decision on whom to pick at a special meeting on Monday night.

And then there was one.

The has selected Karen Schofield to .

The motion – raised by board president Dave Rump – was approved unanimously in a special board meeting on Monday night.

“We had a lot of very capable candidates and we appreciate everybody’s interest in filling this spot, but I think we’re all looking forward to working with Karen,” said board member Dale Petty.

According to board member Barb Gunter, Schofield was the right choice given her 35 years in education and her recent contributions to the district.

“I’m looking forward to working with the board and serving the children of the district,” said Schofield minutes after getting the news on Monday. “I’m just as excited as can be.”

Schofield spent 21 years in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District as a teacher, curriculum specialist and building principal, and the next 14 years in Kent as a director of elementary and middle school education, she said.

Since retiring in 2008, Schofield has served on the Cuyahoga Falls PT21 Strategic Planning Committee, the High School Principal’s Advisory Committee and the Redistricting Committee.

“I saw this opportunity on the board to serve in a different capacity, and I look forward to what lies ahead,” she said.

Schofield will serve out the remainder of Grimes’s term which expires on Dec. 31, 2013, said Rump.

What in Sam Hill does that have to do with anything in this article? Can't you e-mail them and ask? Do we have to drag their kids into this?

Sounds like someone is a sore loser. 35 years experience working with diverse student populations and then remained involved serving our community after retirement = best choice.

I spent last week in Florida for what was supposed to be a last hurrah of summer from Gucci Outlet Store ; the only problems with that plan were Tropical Storm Isaac and a wicked cold I brought from New York. What was supposed to be a week of fun in the sun ended up being a week of rest inside, but that meant more time with my family and more time to shop online. Before I left for Florida, I went to the Gucci NYC Flagship to check out their new stirrup collection and I was hooked. From the more structured options to the soft stirrup, there is something for everyone and every different lifestyle. While I ended up adding a new Gucci bag to my collection (post to come soon), there was another bag on my radar that I would have liked to add; the only problem was the price tag from Gucci Online Shopping.
