Tea Rally Update: Gay Rights Group Planning Protest Against 'Your Values' Bus Tour

Shannon Glatz, a Lakewood resident and member of GetEqual of Ohio, says her group will protest the "hateful" messages of the Your Values bus tour, which is set to make a stop at Sunday's Tea Party rally in the Falls.

The is rolling into Cuyahoga Falls on Sunday and, like many Tea Party events, it will be somewhat controversial.

GetEqual of Ohio, an organization focused on equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, will stand and protest against the Family Research Council’s “Your Money, Your Values, Your Vote” bus tour, which is set to make a stop at Sunday’s rally, said GetEqual member Shannon Glatz, of Lakewood.

Glatz said she and about 50 other people from the Cleveland and Akron area are going to peacefully challenge the bus tour's “hateful” stance toward LGBT.

“GetEqual will come together, send positive messages, offer its own insights to the City of Cuyahoga Falls and hopefully get the group to rethink its values,” she said.

According to Valuesbus.com, the nationwide tour is intended “to advance the cause of fiscal and moral responsibility in America” and will circulate materials on how one should defend “life, marriage and religious liberty. “

The Tea Party rally, sponsored, in part, by the Akron Tea Party, will run on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and feature Ohio Treasurer and U.S. Senate candidate Josh Mandel, Sen. Frank LaRose (R-27) and Rep. Kristina Roegner, Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher and others.
