Graham Road to Reopen Wednesday

As promised, Graham Road will reopen on Wednesday.

According to Cuyahoga Falls Engineer Tony Demasi, crews from the Karvo Paving Co. will work through Tuesday night to get the roadway re-asphalted, painted and ready for traffic.

“It should be open by tomorrow morning,” said Demasi.

It's too soon to say exactly how much this emergency repair will cost, but there is a reference point. 

When a similar scenario unfolded in 2010 in the area between Lillis Drive and State Road, the tab came to $80,000.

"I really don't know what this is going to cost until the numbers come in," said Demasi.

John Christopher, superintendent of the city's water utility, estimated the cost of material and labor to repair the water lines alone would run about $5,000.

The repair work began last Friday after a 16-inch water main and 6-inch supply line ruptured, washed out Graham Road and disrupted water service in the area.

Utility crews quickly responded as water gushed up through buckled chunks of pavement.

Initially thought to have been caused by heavy rain, the washed out road forced the closure of Graham between Prange Avenue and the parking lot.
