Clinton Energizes Obama Supporters in Akron

According to local media outlets, former President Bill Clinton brought Obama supporters to their feet at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron on Thursday night.

It appears former President Bill Clinton can still wield some political thunder.

At least, that's how local media coverage described Clinton's rally at Akron's John S. Knight Center on Thursday night.

In the home stretch to Election Day, Clinton brought hundreds of folks to their feet as he focused on job creation and the auto industry.

Here's the roundup:

The Plain Dealer: Clinton touted Obama's multi-billion dollar auto bailout, saying the President's efforts created 200,000 new jobs versus losing 1 million. With that, he received one of many roars from the audience.

Fox 8 News: Clinton criticized Romney for his vagueness on balancing the budget and rejecting the auto bailout. Clinton charged that, if elected, Romney would hinder growth of the middle class and take credit for creating jobs that Obama "set the stage for."

The Press-News: Clinton said he was confident that voters would dismiss Romney's "bogus" campaign ads and support Obama's lengthy record to swing Ohio in the President's favor.

"Clinton criticized Romney for his vagueness on balancing the budget" - He's joking right? The Senate hasn't offered a budget in YEARS. The President asked for the debt commission, but than refused to back or support. Ryan supported the commission but voted no since didn't address medicare which is blowing a GIANT hole in our future budgets.
I heard VP Biden assert "Obamacare makes medicare solvent to 2024". Did he mean 2124? That's 12 years from now and based on likely rosey projections. What are their plans to reform to extend and strengthen? Why didn't he respond to "Why not raise the age over time gradually?". When I google CBO's long term projections, the current system is unsustainable. http://bipartisanpolicy.org/projects/debt-initiative/about See CNBC's "Are we rich or poor?": http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=1604902615 Regarding criticizing for "rejecting the auto bailout" - I've heard from many (including our President during the last debate). Let's start with the allegedly Romney NY Times Op Ed entitled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt". HE DIDN'T WRITE THAT. His title was something like "The Way Forward for the Auto Industry". The NY Times wrote that title. Romney merely proposed an orderly bankruptcy. Guess what, that's what ended up happening after taxpayor funding. A bankruptcy. Thank you, President Obama for your many achievements, despite strong Republican obstructions:
+ Led the killing of Osama Bin Laden. + Improved US relationships with most allies. + Directed killing of several leaders of Al Qaida. + Implemented harsh sanctions on Iran. + Brought together coalition to remove dictator Gaddhafi from power in Libya. + Implemented Obamacare to provide healthcare for millions of people who previously did not have health coverage, and to mandate several health cost-cutting measures. + Ended the discriminatory Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy in the military. + Support same-sex marriage. + Support the equal pay act to provide equal pay for women and men. + Led the nation out of worst recession (gotten into by Bush) in many decades. + Implemented stimulus act to revive economy. + Ended war in Iraq, an unnecessary and unbudgeted war started by George W Bush. + Began drawdown of war in Afghanistan. + Passed necessary Wall Street reform to prevent future financial collapse. + Helped turn around auto industry. + And, much, much more! Obama-Biden: Helping the middle class, supporting women, moving America "Forward," not backward!

Comedy Central's Jon Stewart did a funny bit on Ohio being "Swing State Hell" on last night's "Daily Show."
Watch it here. (There is 30-second ad first, then considerable Ohio mention starts about 50 seconds into clip.) Well worth watching! http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-november-1-2012/swing-state-hell

Did Mr. Clinton happen to mention Benghazi in any capacity?
Obama has been an economic disaster the last four years, and this Benghazi disgrace is completely unacceptable... This country does not reward failure and dishonesty out of the White House... Every voter needs to read this excellent article... Very well worth your time... http://spectator.org/archives/2012/11/01/benghazi-obamas-core-deceit/ These are pretty good as well: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/50657 http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/10/25/CBS-Busts-Obama--and-Itself-Hidden-60-Minutes-Clip-Proves-White-House-Lied-About-Benghazi Romney/Ryan 2012

Do you think Obama is a good guy and a straight shooter? Read on, please: Obama has been an economic disaster the last four years, and this Benghazi disgrace is completely unacceptable... This country does not reward failure and dishonesty out of the White House...

Hope and change, baby... It's much harder to do once you have a record that can be reviewed... He also said in 2008 that if he didn't get the job done in four years, that it would be a one term deal... Well, he hasn't delivered, so time to let him keep his word... Romney/Ryan 2012

Am I really to understand and agree because Bill Clinton says so...
Bill Clinton was disbarred from practicing law in Arkansas and was also disbarred from practicing law in front of the Supreme Court over the Lewinski incident. He also paid a $25,000.00 fine over the Lewinski incident. He also paid an $850,000.00 settlement over the Lewinski incident. He was also fined $90,000 for giving false testimony in the Paula Jones case. So Bill Clinton, a disbarred lawyer, a President who was fined for lying under oath, asks the American people to believe him when he says the best thing for the Country is 4 more years of Obama. Just wanted to make sure I had it right!

With Clinton out supporting Obama, have you been wondering where George W has been?
Now we know the reality about where George W has been hiding these days. He has been lecturing about moving money off shore to the Caymans, but don't expect details, as they have a "blackout" on the details from his speech there last night: http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11/02/14875519-blackout-imposed-as-george-w-bush-speaks-at-cayman-islands-investment-conference And not getting any love from the Texas press over it: http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/2012/11/bushs-top-secret-cayman-islands-speech-youre-welcome-america.html/ Guaranteed, next year's keynote speech will be from "former GOP presidential candidate; Mitt Romney."

melas, thank you for sharing your thoughts here.
I recently listened to both of Obama's books on audio. It was a hard listen but only due to the fact that I am a bit tired of listening to Obama every single day after four plus years. What I found though is that Obama speaks a great game in these books as they were released before his election in 2008. I also tend to believe that Obama had good intentions from what I learned from him. As Presidents often do, Obama has admitted that being President is different than running for the position. There is a lot more that you find outside of your ability to change. I think America has become so defensive to the other party (left or right) that we all are jaded. I am a white male and I for one do not see RACE when I see and hear Obama. If one is white, black, both or other and stereotypes Obama due to his skin tone, that person is totally missing the big picture. Barack Obama doesn’t plot to overthrow or help anyone in particular. What Obama feels and does, he believes it to be for the common good of all. I truly believe this. I do on the other hand disagree with his beliefs on many issues as Liberals disagree with many Conservative views. We can all point out failures of the other side but both sides fail to please everyone. I will be voting Right Wing Nut Case again this year as I always do but if Obama wins, I will be changing plans for my future as I believe we all should. Hang on. It’s going to be a rough ride.

Just amazes me that people can't take responsibility, blame everyone else because they are too lazyRead More to be aware of what is going on, if you are that concerned about flag day, then you would think you would know when it is or just google it, all the information is available, it is so sad how our country has the blame everyone else attitude, wake up and take personal responsibility

Yet when it comes to flying the flag the are MUM. That is what I am talking about. Like Dean said. Maybe peoplw don't display flags because they didn't know. Talk about being responsible, I think the media should be responsible for getting the word out. They need to do something for their pay.
