City Council Delays Ward Map, Approve Schwebel Work

Council met Monday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

approved all items on the agenda with one exception.

The final descriptions for the city ward map were set to be voted on Monday, but the decision will be delayed to next week.  The item was a last-minute addition to the agenda, so not all council members had time to look it over.

Mary Ellen Pyke felt uneasy to vote without taking a closer look at the map.

"There is no change to legislation other than legal description and no boundary change," Don Walters said. "It’s almost like a legal cleanup ordinance—that is the way it was explained."

Council members agreed to wait to vote until after reviewing the agenda item. The ward map and description will be used for ten years once the council approves it, said Law Director Paul Janis.
