Bicentennial Countdown: Opening Ceremony, Torch Lighting, Music and Fireworks Coming Friday

The opening ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m. The Crooked River Summerfest kicks off at 7 p.m. with fireworks coming at 10 p.m. Friday night in Cuyahoga Falls at Falls River Square.

It could be said tonight's opening ceremony is 200 years in the making. 

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., Mayor Don Robart and Bicentennial Chairman Jeff Iula will conduct the opening ceremony at , according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

During the ceremony, you can catch kayakers zip down the Cuyahoga River, watch the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet perform "Birth of the River" and witness thr lighting of the 30-foot Bicentennial Torch.

7 p.m. -- Midnight Special performs your favorite classic rock songs (Main stage)

10 p.m. -- Spectacular Fireworks Show downtown

10 p.m. to Midnight -- DJ Naeno spins your favorite tunes (Main stage)
