Woman uses counterfeit bill to post boyfriend's bail

A woman wanted to post bail for her boyfriend March 15 but had a little hurdle to jump when one of her bills turned out to be counterfeit.

The woman posted a $1,200 bond for her boyfriend's two Stow Municipal Court cases from 2011 with the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. The woman included one counterfeit $10 bill with her combination of $100, $50, $20 and $10 bills.

Stow Municipal Clerk of Courts Diane Colavecchio did not wish to pursue prosecution. Colavecchio stated the $1,200 bond was modified by $10 to accommodate the counterfeit bill, according to the police report.

A manager at the Panera Bread, 689 Howe Avenue, was charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, for reportedly stealing $813 from a wallet turned into the restaurant between March 18 and 19.

Play It Again Sports receives its own stolen property

A Play It Again sports employee told police that someone tried to sell two baseball gloves valued at $132 to the store March 20; however, the gloves already had been stolen from the store before. Although a suspect was listed on the police report, no arrest had been made at that time. Play It Again Sports is located at 661 Howe Road.

Laptop stolen from Norma Street apartment

A resident in the 2800 block of Norma Street told police someone recently entered her locked apartment and stole her laptop computer and two computer cords at a total of $601.
