Twinplex Charred in Early Morning Fire

Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department calls in extra hands to help extinguish blaze.

The call came in at about 6:45 a.m. Monday morning. Cuyahoga Falls Fire Marshal Michael Dunton said four trucks and 18 firefighters responded to a fire reported at a twinplex on Hemlock Drive.

Dunton said careless smoking near oxygen was to blame.

“What people need to be aware of, is they shouldn’t smoke around oxygen, they should be careful with their cigarettes,” he said.

Dunton said careless smoking near oxygen is one of the leading causes of fires in town next to kitchen fires.

The fire, which started on the first floor, sent one victim to the hospital. The victim's name and condition is not known at this time.
