Teens Caught Throwing Fireworks at Residents; $11,000 Theft; and Cruel Prank: Crime Blotter

Go easy on the booze

On June 8, a 61-year-old Stow man reportedly fell into Howe Avenue and was almost hit by oncoming traffic while trying to solicit money from passers-by. 

When police arrived, they determined the man was intoxicated and cited him for disorderly conduct.

$11,000 theft

A scam artist reportedly stole the credit card numbers of an Orlen Avenue construction business and used them to make nearly $11,000 in unauthorized purchases, according to a June 7 police report.

The local business does wish to prosecute if the culprit is caught. 

Cruel prank

An unknown hooligan threw a lit smoke bomb in the doorway of an Americana Drive apartment, leading residents to think the complex was on fire, according to a June 6 police report. 

The Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department rushed to the scene and quickly determined someone had purposely induced panic by setting off the smoke alarms.

There are no leads or suspects. 

Busted

A pair of teenagers were arrested June 6 after they were reportedly caught throwing fireworks at people from a moving car at the intersection of Silver Lake Avenue and Prange Drive.

They were charged with possession of fireworks and discharge of fireworks, both first-degree misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

No injuries were reported.
