Suspect in Armed Robbery of Schmitt’s Store Arrested

Suspect identified in connection with crimes in Streetsboro and Wadsworth.

A suspect in an armed robbery at Schmitt’s Family Food Mart, 2014 Second St., and several other robberies, is being held in the Portage County Jail.

Jason W. Douglas, 23, of Hudson is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in connection with an Aug. 5 robbery at the Schmitt’s store and robberies in Streetsboro and Wadsworth.

A Cuyahoga Falls police press release said the robber entered the store at about 10:40 p.m. Aug. 5, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk complied and the robber fled the area.

“Detectives later learned of robberies occurring in Streetsboro and Wadsworth with a suspect fitting the same description. With the assistance of the other police departments, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Jason W. Douglas,” Cuyahoga Falls police said.

Douglas is being held in the Portage County Jail on charges from the Streetsboro police.
