Smash-and-Grab Burglary; Heroin Use; Drunken Cyclist; and House Party Theft

Sloppy cyclist

An Akron man was reportedly so intoxicated on the evening of Sept. 7 that he couldn’t remain upright while riding his bike on Keenan Avenue. After several crashes, he sustained injuries to his arms, legs, torso and face. He was cited for disorderly conduct and taken to an area hospital by .

A woman called police on Sept. 7 after an estranged friend arrived at her Hanover Street residence and began yelling obscenities. The situation escalated when the enraged woman reportedly picked up a lawn ornament and threw it against the front of her house. The matter has been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Stolen mailbox

A man living on the 1900 block of Northampton Road called police on Sept. 9 after his mailbox was stolen from his front yard. Total loss: $250.

Heroin Use

On Sept. 10, a Prange Drive resident called police after she found a friend passed out on her bathroom floor. When police arrived, they discovered the man was in possession of heroin, a needle and spoon. He was cited for possession of drugs and drug abuse instruments.

Smash and grab

An employee of reported the office had been burglarized sometime after 5 p.m. on Sept. 7. $150 was stolen from a smashed cash drawer, but nothing else was taken. There are no leads or suspects.

House party theft

A woman returned from a trip on Sept. 10 and quickly realized her 17-year-old son had thrown a party without her permission. During the bash, one of the teen’s friends stole $1,800 in property from the house. There is a suspect and the woman intends to prosecute.
