Phony Mechanic Swindles Falls Man; Heroin Arrest; and Smash-and-Grab Burglary

The following was obtained from Cuyahoga Falls Police reports dated Oct. 23-25. It does not indicate a conviction.

Mr. Fix-It imposter

A livid Saxe Avenue man called Cuyahoga Falls Police on Oct. 25, and said he was swindled out of $4,000. According to the police report, the unassuming man forked over the cash to a friend who agreed to fix his 1979 Pontiac Firebird. Instead, the quasi-mechanic reportedly caused $6,000 worth of damage to the car. The Falls man intends to press charges.

Burglar goes for TV, jewels and gun

On Oct. 24, a 27th Street resident called police and reported his home had been burglarized. It appears the burglar pried a side door open and stole a 50-inch flat panel TV, a set of earrings and a 9mm handgun. Estimated loss: $3,200.

Heroin user nabbed

A man was charged with drug possession, a fifth-degree felony, after police found needles and heroin in his truck during a routine traffic stop on State Route 8 on Oct. 23. He was also charged with several misdemeanors, which included: drug abuse, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments.

Smash and grab

On Oct. 23, the owner of Round 2 Kids reported that the children’s clothing store had been robbed. The thief broke into her safe and register, stole about $200 in cash and made off with an unknown amount of merchandise. Police are investigating.
