Police Investigating Two Recent Identity Thefts
Local Cuyahoga Falls Crime from March 22 – March 28.
A resident of the 3000 block of Timber Brook Drive told Cuyahoga Falls Police March 23 that between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on March 18, her credit card numbers were used online to purchase a computer without her consent. The unknown identity thief spent nearly $250 on the victim’s credit card.
A similar incident occurred just three days later. A woman living on the 3000 block of Prange Drive told police early March 26 that her bank debit cards were used to make cash withdrawals of more than $400 without her knowledge. The loss was reimbursed by her bank. Officers are investigating the incidents, but have no leads or suspects at this time.
Two roommates living on the 3000 block of 8th Street reported nearly $3,500 worth of cash and video game equipment missing from their apartment after returning home late Saturday night. Police report the unknown burglar(s) gained entry to the residence by prying open the locked garage door. A 46-inch flat-screen Sony television, a Sony PlayStation 3, an Xbox 360, an Xbox video game and various video game controllers are among the lost items, in addition to $1,300 in cash.
