Police Blotter: Traffic Stop Yields Three Drug-Related Arrests

Trio caught with drugs near police department

Three men were stopped about a block from the on Friday at 3 a.m. Officers searched the car and discovered a bag of methamphetamine, Xanax pills, a digital scale – which is typically used to weigh drugs to the nearest tenth of a gram – and other drug paraphernalia. The trio was immediately arrested and taken to jail.

  • At 1 p.m. on Sunday, a woman walked into the at 230 Howe Ave. and picked up a case of bottled water, two mops, five packs of toilet paper, a box of trash bags and assorted deli meats.  She tried to take the $140 worth of groceries out of the store and was stopped by the supermarket’s staff. Giant Eagle will be pressing charges.
  • After leaving at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, a man found only a pile of broken glass in the spot where he had parked his 1989 Oldsmobile Delta. Police were called to the toy store at 590 Howe Ave. The car was valued at $2,500. 
  • At 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, a woman alerted police when she couldn’t find a diamond ring that had been stored in her jewelry box. The Wadsworth Avenue resident said the stolen ring was worth about $12,000.
