Police Blotter: Marijuana Motorist, Grand Theft Auto and Stolen Jewels

The following information was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

On Thursday afternoon, a woman was caught with a bag of marijuana after her car was searched during a routine traffic stop on Howe Avenue. Police also found a glass pipe used to smoke the drug. She was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Mystery shooter

While driving on Portage Trail on Thursday afternoon, a woman reported that someone shot a pellet or BB through the windshield of her Honda SUV. The damaged windshield will cost $250 to replace.

High- and low-end thefts

  • A woman called police on Thursday when she discovered that someone had swiped her jewels. The thief got away with gold and diamond rings, a bracelet and earrings. The stolen jewelry was valued at $15,000.
  • On Wednesday evening, a employee reported that someone had stolen two 18-volt power tool charging kits valued at $500 a pop. To get away with the bulky items, the man slipped through an emergency door. Police have a suspect and the big box retailer wants to prosecute.
  • A man called police on Wednesday night after someone made off with his SUV, valued at $1,500. The jalopy was stolen from on East Steels Corners Road.
