Police Blotter: Laptop, Fuel, Identities Stolen

Theft

• A supervisor at the city-owned reported Nov. 18 that someone cut a chain and clasp on the gasoline tank at the maintenance building and stole about 20 gallons of fuel worth about $67. The theft occurred between 3 p.m. Nov. 17 and 5:50 a.m. Nov. 18.

• A Cuyahoga Falls man reported Nov. 19 that his smart phone valued at $300 was stolen sometime between 11 p.m. Nov. 17 and 2:30 a.m. Nov. 18 while he was at .

• A Tallmadge City Schools employee reported Nov. 20 that someone entered his unlocked 2005 Hyundai Elantra while it was parked in his driveway in the 300 block of East Portage Trail and took a laptop computer in a carry bag and a USB adapter. Total loss of the items, which belonged to Tallmadge schools, is estimated at $950. The man said the theft occurred between 7 p.m. Nov. 18 and 8:30 a.m. Nov. 20. 

Identity theft

• A resident of the 900 block of Falls Avenue reported Nov. 17 that someone used her credit/debit card account information to make $1,943 worth of purchases without her permission.

• A resident of the 2700 block of Owaisa Road reported Nov. 20 that someone used her credit card information to make two online purchases totaling $473 on Nov. 19. The thief attempted to make an additional purchase totaling $1,619, but that transaction was declined by the credit card company. Police advised the woman to contact her credit card company and a credit reporting agency.

Endangering children 

• A Revere Drive resident was charged with two counts of endangering children on Nov. 18 after police received a report at 12:48 p.m. that he left his two daughters, ages 3 and 5, unattended inside his 2005 Ford Escape in the parking lot while he went inside the store to shop. The man, 41, was issued a summons for each first-degree misdemeanor count and released at the scene.
