Police Blotter: Identity Theft, Fast Food Sticky Fingers

The following information was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Identity theft 

A resident of the 1300 block of Sand Run Road reported that someone using his name, date of birth and Social Security number attempted to withdraw funds from a First National bank account in Fairlawn. The First National employee became suspicious and did not release any funds.

• A manager at , 2618 State Rd., reports that at least one employee and possibly more have been skimming money from paying customers. The manager said this has been going on for at least three months, and the exact amount of money taken is unknown.

• The same Taco Bell manager reported that $85 was stolen from a locked employee-accessible safe between 5 and 10 p.m. Nov. 4.

• A duffel bag was taken from a pickup truck parked on the 2300 block of Bailey Road between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Nov. 7. The duffel bag contained hunting clothes and equipment and medication including Cymbalta, morphine sulfate, Percocet and Xanax. Loss was estimated at $130.

• Someone took a Canon digital camera and a black Garman GPS unit from a car parked on the 2100 block of Stone Street between midnight and 1 a.m. Nov. 5.

• An Akron man reported that he was approached by a stranger who said his family had been in an accident and that he needed a ride from Portage Trail to the intersection of Front Street and Bailey Road. On the way the stranger asked for $30 and was given the money. Upon arrival at Front and Bailey, the stranger disappeared. There was no evidence of an accident.

Auto theft

• A gold 1999 Chevrolet Blazer was stolen from a driveway on the 1900 block of Tudor Street the night of Nov. 6. Loss is estimated at $5,100.
