Police Blotter: Go On, Take the Movies and Run

The following information was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft, assault 

Bryan Adam Black of Cuyahoga Falls was arrested on charges of theft and assault at the Drug Mart Discount store at 655 Portage Trail on Oct. 6. Police said Black was caught trying conceal two DVDs in his pants and knocked a loss-prevention employee to the ground while attempting to escape.

A Canton man told police a woman damaged his 2003 Saturn then got into a truck driven by a man who struck a car and a witness to the incident shortly after midnight on Oct. 9.

 • A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported someone threw a 10-pound weight through her car’s rear window, causing an estimated $400 damage, while she was visiting her sister on 17th Street on Oct. 6. 

Burglary

• Someone entered an apartment on the 4200 block of Americana Drive and stole a purse. The total loss including cash was $145.

• A Cook Street resident reported that the contents of his rented storage room at 1640 Akron-Peninsula Rd. had been taken between Oct. 1 and Oct. 7. The loss was estimated to be more than $6,700.

• Someone broke into a house on the 1000 block of Tallmadge Road and stole an estimated $1,000 worth of copper piping from the basement and garage between Oct. 4 and Oct. 6, the owner told police. 

Assault

A Third Street resident told police he was assaulted by a woman who punched him in the right eye at about 2:55 a.m. Oct 9. A Broadway Street woman told police she was punched in the left cheek. Police referred both of them to the Cuyahoga Falls prosecutor.  

Disorderly conduct

• Two juveniles were arrested on disorderly conduct charges after they were caught fighting in front of Cuyahoga Falls police at about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

• A loud party on the 3400 block of Prange Drive led to several citations and arrests, including the host of the party and several minors for violation of underage drinking and tobacco laws, the night of Oct 8. 

Drug possession

 • Robert L. Dexter of Hollywood Avenue was hospitalized and charged with drug possession after his wife found him unconscious from a heroin overdose. Police found evidence of heroin and marijuana use.

• Michael T. Lovary Jr. of Canton was arrested on charges of drug possession on Oct. 8. A bag of marijuana was found after he was stopped by Cuyahoga Falls police for speeding.

Menacing, telecommunication harassment

 • A resident of Marian Lake Boulevard reported receiving threatening phone calls between Sept. 18 and Oct. 8 for refusing to wire money to the caller. The victim said he will prosecute.

• A Campbell Street resident reported that a known female caller has made repeated telephone calls after being told to stop calling, including nine calls on Oct. 7. Police directed her to the phone company’s annoyance bureau.
