Police Blotter: Endangering Children; Busted With a Bong; and Jewelry Thefts

A drunken couple decided to lay down on a Hollywood Avenue sidewalk for a little rest and relaxation, that is, until broke up their Saturday night nap. To make matters worse, the duo also had their six-year-old daughter with them. The man was arrested, the woman was taken to detox and the child was driven to a relative’s house. The couple was charged with disorderly conduct and endangering children.

Two kids were picked up by officers on State Road Friday night for a curfew violation. One of the children had a glass bong, a glass pipe and cigarettes on him. In the police report, officers indicated the pipes appeared to be coated with traces of marijuana. After being cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, they were released to their mothers.

A man called police Thursday afternoon and reported that his house, located on the 700 block of Lehigh Street, had been burglarized. The thief smashed a window out, entered the residence and made off with an estimated $1,300 in jewelry. Later that evening, the man’s neighbor notified police that her house had been broken into as well. In this case, the thief made off with $500 in jewelry.
