Police Blotter: Bottle Bombs, Van Stolen

Bottle Bombs

  • A 13-year-old boy was arrested on Aug. 15 after he was seen throwing a plastic bottle containing foil and an unknown substance onto the baseball field at . Police said that two bottles exploded while the third did not. The boy was released to his mother, and the fire department disposed of the bombs.

Auto Theft

  • A Stow man told police that on Aug. 15, someone stole his 1984 Dodge van from the parking lot of . The value of the van and its contents is estimated at $14,000.

  • A manager at Farinacci Pizza on Oakwood told police that sometime between Aug. 14 and 16, someone broke the door lock and handle of the rear business door and stole $371 in cash.
  • A man living in the 1600 block of 20th Street told police that sometime between Aug. 12 and 14, someone tried to break into his shed behind his garage. The suspect tried pulling on the padlock holding the door closed causing the metal hinge holding the door to bend. The man was able to bend the hinge back into place.

Obstructing Official Business

  • Police said that on Aug. 16, Bobby Kennedy, Akron, was arrested after fleeing from officers attempting to execute a warrant on him. Police found Kennedy hiding in bushes near Tallmadge Road and Stuart Avenue.
